With eight stages and over 150 acts, there’s no shortage of new talent to discover at Ultra Music Festival. But with so many options at your disposal, things can become a tad overwhelming. Whether you’re at the festival or just want to learn a little more about some of the major acts, these are our day three picks for who you should be seeing live or checking out on Myspace radio.

Armin van Buuren — 8:00pm, ASOT 550 Stage, 10:00pm, Main Stage

.
One of the biggest and most celebrated electronic music acts in the world, a four-time winner of DJ Mags top DJ in the world award, Armin van Buuren rightfully closes out the main stage of this year’s Ultra Music Festival. Expect trance, wish dashes of progressive house sprinkled in. His airy and melodic beats are the perfect way to wind down a weekend (or an entire week) of dancing and partying.

Steve Aoki – 4:20pm, Main Stage

.
Founder of Dim Mak records, Steve Aoki has been one of the mainstays of the Los Angeles scene and electro house in general for over a decade. Despite being around for so long, it wasn’t until two months ago that he released his debut album — Wonderland – on Dim Mak records. Featuring collaborations with Kud Cuti, Travis Barker, LMFAO, and Lil Jon, it’s clear that Aoki is at the forefront of the wave of electronic artists who have been bringing the genre into the mainstream and popular culture. And yes, there’s a pretty good chance he’ll end up crowdsurfing at some point.

Kaskade — 7:40pm, Main Stage

.
Spinning primarily progressive house, think of Kaskade as a harder version of Armin van Buuren, though there’s still plenty of melody behind his beats. He also lays claim to being the best (and probably only) Mormon DJ around. Last fall, he released his ninth studio album — Fire & Ice — including the track Room for Happiness, featuring Skylar Grey. No matter what genre of electronic music is your preference, Kaskade’s a pretty good middle ground that nearly anyone can enjoy.

Bassnectar — 10:00pm, Live Stage

.
Before there was Skrillex, there was Bassnectar. One of the pioneers of American dubstep music, Lorin Ashton’s sound has evolved to where he’s now known as much for breakbeats, glitch-hop, and electro-hop. A mainstay at Ultra, Coachella, Lollapalooza, and just about every other gig across the country, no festival experience is complete without spending a little time with Bassnectar.

John Digweed — 9:00pm, UMF Ibiza Stage

.
John Digweed, also known as Diggers, is pretty much the king of progressive electronic music (or at least co-king with his former DJ partner Sasha). A one hour set might seem a little paltry given that he’s known for playing for 8+ hours, but he definitely falls into the “legend that you should see at all costs” category. And if you’re not at the festival, you can listen to parts one and two of his critically acclaimed Structures 2 album — each over one hour of continuous mixing!

Cosmic Gate — 4:00pm, ASOT 550 Stage

.
As far as trance goes, Armin van Buuren may be the biggest name, but the duo of Claus Terhoeven and Stefan Bossems (or Cosmic Gate as they’re better known) have their own contingent of fans that will tell you they’re juuuuuust a little bit better than Armin. But hey, we’re not here to pick sides. Why don’t you listen to both on Myspace radio and choose for yourself?

Steve Lawler – 7:00pm, UMF Ibiza Stage

.
For those of you who like your music a little darker, there’s Steve Lawler — and with a 7:00pm set time, he’s the perfect choice to usher in the sunset. Mixing techy beats with a tribal feel, get in a bit more hard dancing before you let Kaskade and Armin van Buuren’s more melodic undertones gently bring you down from what has most likely been an incredibly long three days.
