50 Cent has been publicly fighting with his record label about the delayed release of his next album, but it sounds like that delay is only generating more music. G-Unit/Interscope hasn’t revealed whether it will release 50’s disc yet and the rapper recently told Forbes that if/when they do he may skip touring to record its follow-up. “This time I’m not sure if I’ll tour the world like I did on my last project, ’cause it makes my album cycle two years long,” 50 said. “So I think I’d like to launch this record and come right back and launch another record following it.” 50’s last album came out back in 2009 and because of the delay to release his fifth album, the rapper has quite a bit of material to launch another record. “It’s been three years since my last album, so I’ve recorded so much material that I’m really excited about trying to get those ideas to the general public so they get a chance to hear it and appreciate it,” he said. “I just feel like because I’ve created so much I want to be able to get it out to them. 50 Cent has been blasting his record label via Twitter over the past year, saying that he may part ways with the label. Last summer he wrote, “I’m sorry to announce I will not be releasing a new album this year if we don’t get on the same page. My whole career iv been doing shit and they have been playing catch up this is the last fucking album THEY BETTER WAKE UP AND WORK.” Despite this, the album still has yet to get a release date. Read more » Exclusive Interview: YG![]() . Interview by Bryson Paul . YG dropped by Myspace recently and sat down to fill us in what’s happening in his busy life. Check out our exclusive interview below. BRYSON PAUL: All right, ay, what’s up world? We’re here with YG at Myspace and let’s get this thing started. So, you know, it’s a new year, fresh 2012. What are some resolutions that you have? YG: Man, you know, make a lot more money (laugh) Make a lot of more money putting out music, you feel me? Just do better than I did last year, you know. . Okay and then speaking of last year, you had pretty much five songs on the charts, you had 50 Cent, Snoop, everybody. Yup. . All right, with all that success, when can we expect a debut from YG? An album? Man, I’m not trying to put out an album until I feel like my album is gonna sell 200 and something thousand, and so until I feel like I will put out my album and if we’ll do that in the first week, I’m going to be putting out mixtapes, videos, promoting, you feel me, touring, doing all that. So probably another year or so, yeah, right now it’s grind time. Now, we putting out mixtapes. I got mixtapes, gonna drop like February, March, music videos. It’s going to be crazy, you feel me? The fans are going to be satisfied, They’re not going to be tripping off an album right now, ’cause you feel me, they know. . All right, and then you had ‘Toot It and Boot It,‘ which was the song you made a couple of years back and do you usually go back to your old stuff to bring to the current? No, no, no. See what happens is, I put out music and I tell people, like this should be the song that you put out right now, you feel me? They don’t be sure about the music, so I put it out and then I just put it out and it just be out. And then when it blows up they come in, ‘oh yeah, we’re about to work your song,’ so it makes me look like I’m just putting out all—I’m working old songs. Like right now, they filmed ‘Bitches Ain’t Shit, Snitches’ (the record) they are put money behind it now, but I put it out eight months ago, you feel me, but that’s how it goes now, you feel me? It just be like the record labels being kind of slow with a new artist, ‘cause you gotta like prove your point, you feel me, so, yeah, it’s all good though. . You’re working with a couple of new artists now, I mean, you’ve been spotted with the Australian Sensation, Iggy… (overlapping) Iggy—Iggy 400 (laugh) . So what made you take her under your wing? I really didn’t put her under my wing, you feel me? She was doing her thing. She was working with some other people that like produced “Toot It and Boot it,” you feel me? And then it’s like the homies, the older homies, so he was telling me like, ‘hey, yeah, I’m working with this girl, she’s from Australia, you should work with her.’ He told me, ‘I’m like, all right, fa’ sho’ – but I never did like work with her or nothing, but then I went over to his little studio and some months later he was like playing me some of her songs and showed me her lbehind the scenes of a video. I’m like, ‘oh, she hard, she dope.’ I was like, ‘yeah, tell her to hit me.’ She hit me, then we just start chilling. We start chilling, making a little music. I was hopping on some of her little songs. We was really chilling, like I really didn’t take her under my wing. She was already doing her thing. But we was just chilling though. She like the home girl. . So could fans expect a collaboration mixed in with you guys or…? Oh, we was supposed to put on a mixtape in like September, you feel me? We was supposed to put it out called ‘1990.’ We’re still working on it though, so, just all the fans, stay tuned, I mean, Iggy will be dropping some songs, you feel me, hopefully she’ll be on my mixtape I am going to put out in February, March. . Explain a little bit of what you’ve got coming with the mixtape… Oh, I got some crazy shit coming man. I got some, you feel me, I got the first song I’m gonna drop is with Meek Mills, called “I’m A Thug,” you feel me? We gonna shoot the video like two weeks. It’s gonna be in the City of Compton, California Los Angeles on the streets. It’s gonna be real crazy. You know, how I do it, you know how the little “Bitches Ain’t Shit” was shot all in the streets, you know how I do. Everybody just having fun. It’s gonna be like that. Then I got, you feel me, you just gotta stay tuned, ’cause I ain’t trying to name drop all my stuff right now, because you feel me? The names and all of the—you’re filming the titles and the title of the mixtape is not for sure right now, you feel me? It’s still like–I’m still brainstorming, feel me? but it’s coming soon though, February, March, be on the lookout, yeah. . All right, and then as far as shows go, do you have any upcoming tours that you plan on going on or are you hitting the roads heavily like you were last year? Yeah, we got some tours coming up, Tyga’s going on tour for his album. I’m supposed to be on there for him. He wantd me to come on tour with him and I just got off the Snoop and Wiz Khalifa high school tour. It was like a week and a half, like nine dates, feel me? For their movie they put out and the album they put out, ‘Mack and Devin go to High School.’ That was a good look, but this Tyga thing tho–it’s supposed to be like in February, so if I get on that, that’s going to be a good look too, like 24/25 dates. But ya, we just touring man, we touring. Right now I’m trying to stay away from the clubs, you feel me? ‘Cause I’ve been doing a lot of club shows, but I’m trying to do the hard sale tickets you feel me? Like the concerts, like the key clubs and all that, I’m trying to do all that. So hopefully I’m gonna stay away from the clubs, you feel me? You gonna have to buy a ticket, a hard ticket to see me. So that’s why I’m trying to get my fans into doing that now. . So, who’s the new artist that you haven’t gotten the opportunity to work with, but you’re looking forward to working with? One was Meek Mills and we went to Philly acouple of weeks ago and we got it in. Mac Miller, you feel me, that’s the homie, but we ain’t got it in yet, but we gonna do something real soon. Who else? Who new? Kendrick Lamar, he ain’t new, but you feel me? He’s on the come up right now. I was just at his studio last night. I want to do something with him. Dom Kennedy. But these are all homies though, I know em, but we just ain’t did nothing you feel me? But they all upcoming, so yeah. . Okay and then speaking of social networking and stuff, what are some tactics that you’ve used to get your name out there? I just be on Twitter saying funny shit you feel me? Re-Tweeting the fans, talking to the fans, Tweeting little pictures and shit like that, you know, just–I don’t know, just—just regular stuff, you feel me, just cracking jokes, just having fun. But, yeah, the little Twitter shit, the little constant shit, that shit is annoying. That shit irritate me. I be wanting to block people that be doing that on my Twitter like, what the fuck, you feel me? . All right and then this will probably be an interesting question for all the ladies out there, since you’re not hitting the clubs up that much anymore, does that mean you’re gonna start dating a little bit more and start taking women out? I’m always dating, hitting the clubs up. Whenever I’m dating, we can go to the club on a date, we can go—our date can be we going to the club. I’m bout it, you feel me? So the dating don’t never stop, not with me, ’cause that’s all I talk about, you feel me? Is females and money, you feel me? So that don’t never stop, you feel me? It will never stop, bro. . Might get a “Toot it and Boot it” Part 2… I probably got a female at the house right now. You know you know (laugh) You feel me (laugh) . Like in “Toot it and Boot it” Part 2? Yeah, “Toot it and Boot it” Part 2, it might come out, it don’t stop. . All right and then what are some of your new year’s resolutions as far as relationships? YG: Aw, man, just ummm—relationships, you gotta be careful on who you have a relationship with, because they get real deep, you feel me? So I just—I think I’m gonna stay just friends with girls. Because I’m like–I’m like a cool kind of duce, so they be falling in love, bro, easy, and I’ll be trying to do all that. I just be chilling, but they be falling in love, so they be getting the wrong ideas. So I’m just gonna to let them know. I think I be leading them on though a little bit, ’cause I like, you feel me, like, yeah, I be leading them on, bro. I got a problem. I gotta stop (laugh) You know, but it’s all good though, yeah. . Yeah, you gotta lead them on some, I mean, they gotta pay attention some kind of way, right? Yeah, man, but I think I be doing a little bit too much, see, ’cause I probably kiss on them and they, you feel me, they start liking me and I’m like, ‘you like me? Like what are you talking about, like we just cool,’ but I’m over here kissing on her and we hugged up, watching a movie, you feel me, yeah, man. . Ah, man, that’s all bad. Yeah. . So as far as like 2012, what do you predict will happen? With 2012 people think the world is going to end, you know? Man, I hope Obama get re-elected and the world supposed to end 2012, we’re not there yet though. 12/12/12, that’s when it’s supposed to end, right? December 12, 2012, yeah, so you feel me? I’m scared of that. I ain’t gonna lie to you. I hope it don’t. I don’t want to believe it, but for me, I was told like the calendar was the last calendar they made ended on 12.12.12… . Yeah. Yeah, so that’s fucked up. (laughter) Yeah, that’s some fucked up shit right there, man. . Aw, man…you a sports fan at all? Oh, yeah, man, you know. I’m a 49ers fan. I’m a 49ers fan, ’cause this homie, Dashon Goldson, he plays for the 9ers, so he took us to the game when I was out there. And we were sitting on the sideline. This is my first football game ever going to in life and it was a 49er game against the Cowboys, they lost, but since that day, I’ve been a 49ers fan and they’re like 11 and 3, I think or like something like that. And Dashon Goldson, he’s safety, number 38 for the hers. I’m a 9ers fan and I am an Oklahoma City Thunder fan, James Hardy, Kevin Duran, them all my homies, Westbrook Russell…They my homies and shit, yeah. And they like the homies like come-to-the-house type shit like they the homies. So yeah, that’s why I’m–I’m a–I’m a Thunders fan and a 49ers fan. . YG: I put on for the city, but I just never been a Lakers fan. My—my pop was a diehard Chicago Bulls, Michael Jordan fan, so that’s why I was raised up to like Michael Jordan, Chicago Bulls. I just never liked the Lakers. I ain’t got nothing against them, but like you feel me, Kobe hard as fuck. I just don’t like em (laugh) . All right and then, you’ve gotten a lot of advice from like some pretty legendary people, you know, 50 Cent, Snoop. What’s some business advice that you took from them and some music advice that you took from them? 50 told me save my money man. He said, ‘don’t go out here buying all these big ass chains, these niggas be having like five, ten chains.’ He said, ‘don’t do it, just get you one chain and one watch, and you just gonna be straight. Just save your money and invest.’ 50 really told me that and then Snoop, he always be telling me what to do with music. Like network with all these people, network with the white people, with the people with the money. He said ‘be cool with them,’ you feel me, ’cause you gonna need them’ and he just told me like what to watch out for, what not to do, what to leave alone, you feel me? Yeah, so Snoop and 50, they like always schooling me on the game. . Has there ever been a celebrity that surprised you when they told you that they were a fan of your music? Oh, Drake. A long time ago, like this was when “Toot it and Boot it” first started poppin and I had a show with Fabulous at a club in Hollywood and then after the club I went to Roscoe’s right there. And I walked in and Drake was sitting there right by the table we was sitting at, so I’m like, ‘what’s up, man,’ and he said, ‘you’re the one having the songs on Hotnewhiphop, huh? I said ‘yeah,’ he was like, ‘I be listening to it.’ I said, ‘for real?’ He said, ‘yeah.’ I’m like, ‘oh shit’ (laugh). On everything he told me that. I was tripping. That shit was crazy. . Okay, we expecting a collaboration between y’all two? I don’t know, man, shit, you know. He a million dollar man. You feel me? I’m a little homie right now, but one day though, coming soon. He know what’s up. . All right and then being that you were a part of last year’s XXL Freshman 10 or freshman 12, who do you think is gonna make it on this list this year? Oh, shit. I seen a little leakage. I seen a little something, you feel me? I seen Dom Kennedy, I think it was A$AP Rocky. I don’t know. I’m not sure. It was like 15 mother fuckers this time or 12 or something. I think they doing it for 2012, so you know, I really didn’t see nobody I knew like that, except for Dom Kennedy, A$AP Rocky. Yeah, I really want Machine Gun Kelly to be up there, you feel me? Because last year at the concert, I met him backstage, we was talking it up, you feel me, he cool. And then he doing his shit right now too. He got that “Wild Boyz” song and shit. He got shit popping right now. He got signed P Diddy Bad Boy, you feel me? So I really think he deserve a shot on a little cover and I want Dom Kennedy to be on the cover for me, ’cause he from out here where we doing our thing, you feel me? So it’s a west coast thing, so me and Dom Kennedy—I think I saw Kreayshawn too. . Yeah, she was on there. She was on there? . Well, it was a list of her on there, as far as like voting and stuff like that… Yeah, voting. . …it was her, Casey Veggies. Yeah, Casey Veggies too, you feel me? That’s my nigga too. He from Inglewood, you feel me? That’s where I live at right now, so I want the brother, you feel me, get all. I want Iggy 400 to get out too. You feel me, Iggy 400, you feel me? She needs she needs to be on a cover. She’s swaging, so vote for her. . Okay and then speaking of last year’s freshmens, who do you feel out of the 11 that you guys—the 11 of you guys, you built the most personal relationship with? Lil Twist, that’s the little homie. He just called me last night. Lil Twist, Meek Mill and Kendrick Lamar and Lil’ B, you feel me? Them like Mac Miller cool too, ’cause he be hitting it, we’re gonna be chopping it on the phone and shit. Them like the world’s out really like to fuck with, like you feel me? Text message, we run the city, you feel me, what you got poppin, send me a track, you feel me? Meek Mill, though, when I went to Philly, for the Snoop and Wiz Tour, he let me come through his little studio. I played my song, he hopped on it, then I had to go do the show and I brought him out at the show, you feel me? So he be looking out for me, Meek Mill’s the homie, so he’s gonna come to the city. He’s gonna come out here for like two months and work on his album and shit, so yeah, we’re gonna turn it up. We’re gonna be in the clubs, I know for sure. Everyone look out for that, we gonna tear the clubs up. Real serious. . All right and what do you plan on buying this year? I want a 4-door Porsche. I want the Panamara Turbo. I want to buy it. I heard it’s like a hundred and somethin thousand, yeah, I want that. But before I get that, I think I’m gonna get a little Challenger real soon. I’m gonna get a Challenger and put that mother fucker on twenty sixes. . Being that you all tatted up, you got any room to get anymore new tats this year? I got some space on my legs and my back, you feel me? But everything else is—and the top of my head too. I’m gonna get the top of my head tatted. I got like—like my side in the back of my head. I just got to get the top, yeah, man. This tattoo shit is real serious, well, it’s not even serious, ’cause I—I–I’ve been doing this since I was 16, but like you feel me? This shit ain’t nothing, but I do this stuff. . ![]() Image credit: YG . Thanks for your time, man. :ook forward to hearing a lot of stuff from you this year. A lot of stuff, a lot of bangers, man, I got hits, man, don’t even worry, man. . You can listen to YG on Myspace. Listen now. Read more » 50 Cent Partners With Pepsi For Charitable Energy Drink
The new year will bring… new energy drinks? 50 Cent announced today that he has partnered with Pepsi to release his Street King Energy Shot, which he initially launched back in September. “I did a deal with Pepsi to distribute streetking its gonna be every where buy a bottle feed some one in need,” the rapper tweeted today. This means that for each shot you buy 50 will help a hungry child. Ultimately, the rapper hopes to help one billion kids. Which is amazing and also a whole of a lot of caffeine. 50 Cent may be gearing up to announce some other products this year, as well. Back in May Chirs Lighty, founder and CEO of Violator and Brand Asset Group, as well as 50’s manager, told Billboard that 50 may venture into nutritional supplements. “We’re working on a new supplement company. We’re going to build new supplements cause it’s a big opportunity like Vitamin Water was,” he said. “We want to market and promote it when we put out 50’s album. There are different options of penetration for supplements through music; like going to GNC [for] protein shakes, vitamins, [etc.].” This year may also bring some changes to the rapper’s music career. Along with his Street King announcement the rapper also noted that he is displeased with his crew at Interscope Records. “I have lost all the faith in the team I’m on,” 50 tweeted. “I have nothing left to say I will not be promoting my music. ’m going to deliver this album then. I have a film I wrote to focus on. I’m not upset I’m just convinced this is not how I want to be remembered.” Read more » 50 Cent Talks Chelsea Handler, New Mixtape
